NATIONAL INFORMATICS CENTRE (NIC)
National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the Department of
Information Technology Govt. of India is providing network
backbone and e-Governance support to Central Government,
State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts and other
Government bodies. It offers a wide range of ICT services
including Nationwide Communication Network for
decentralised planning, improvement in Government services
and wider transparency of national and local Governments.
NIC assists in implementing Information Technology
Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State
Governments, in the areas of (a) Centrally sponsored
schemes and Central sector schemes, (b) State sector and
State sponsored projects, and (c) District Administration
sponsored projects. NIC endeavours to ensure that the
latest technology in all areas of IT is available to its
users.
NIC UDALGURI DISTRICT CENTRE
NIC Udalguri
District Unit came into exist in the district on 9th
February 2007. The Department is equipped with the state
of the art infrastructure for implementing Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) in the district. NIC is
providing internet services to all the magistrate chambers
including DC's Conference hall and one more line to DC
residence through two switches. As an initiative of
e-governance Deputy Commissioner procured 7Nos. of
computers and other resources. These computer were
provided with internet. As a part of Citizen Centric
Project in the North East State, in the initial stage, NIC
has selected 10 locations for providing internet
connectivity through Wi-Max technology to different
departments including institutions in the district . Other
ongoing projects which can be mentioned are NREGA,
e-Court, CLR(Computerization of Land Record), & Employee
database etc. And one more project for police called CIPA
can be named as incoming project.
NIC has been
allotted one room measuring 600 sq.ft. and the room has a
glass partition in between the server room and user room.
Now NIC has total strength of 4 staffs including DIO(i/c).
Two FMS staff for 3i Pvt. Infotech Ltd. is looking after
the network round the clock and a Grade-IV, requisition
from Irrigation Dept. is helping the official activities.

Wi-MAX internet Connectivity |
This project is going on and selected
10 locations for providing internet connection to
the district. The locations are 1.DC Residence,
2.Agriculture Dept, 3.PWD(Rural Raods), 4.Employment
Exchange, 5.Transport Office, 6.Police Dept,
7.Medical Dept, 8.Udalguri College, 9.Hr. Sec.
Udalguri, 10.Hr. Sec. Girls’. Site survey for these
departments were completed and equipments start to
come. Engineers came and installed the BTS Tower in
the DC Office building and a site at DC Residence.
But the other remote sites could not done as there
is no clear line of sight due to the trees in
between so permissible signals could not get.
Process is going on to complete the work with DC and
SIO. |
